About the Event

As its name suggests, the Tokyo Hillclimb Series - Hinohara Stage is a part of several hillclimb challenges around Tokyo. Among cyclists in the know, Hinohara is believed to be one of the best climb courses in the country due to the immaculate road conditions.

Known by local Tokyo residents as a popular resort area for urbanites seeking nature’s refuge, Hinohara Village is located on the western edge of Tokyo and touch both Yamanashi and Kanagawa Prefectures. The village is also home to the Chichibu Tama Kai National Park, which boasts a beautiful natural environment with an expansive forest and clear streams.

In it to win it! Consider yourself a fast cyclist? Expert climber? Clock the fastest time among Samurai Sports registrants and walk away with a special wood plaque with your name engraved! A special treat arranged by the local council for our involvement in bringing foreign residents and international visitors to the Okutama area of Tokyo, only those registered for the Tokyo Hillclimb Series - Hinohara Stage through Samurai Sports are eligible for this one-of-a-kind award.

About the Course
Cyclists will start near the clock tower on Hinohara Street and Okutama Shuyou Street of Hinohara Village. The course will run through Henbori District and Kazuma District, passing the Hinohara Citizens' Forest before coming to the finish line in Kazaharitoge, home to Tokyo's highest paved point at 1,146m (about 3,800ft).

The course is very well-maintained throughout the year by the Tokyo Prefecture Construction Bureau, and there are very few rocks, sand, or imperfections on the asphalt surfaces. Compared to the Tokyo Hillclimb Okutama Stage and the Nariki Stage, Hinohara is an easier climb. There are some short but technical descents on the route; cyclists must descend in small groups after finishing.
