About the Race

The Osaka Yodo-River Citizens Marathon is the first marathon in Japan that takes place entirely along a riverbank. Since 1997, the people of Osaka come together to organize the event for women and men of all ages to enjoy. A main theme of this marathon is to embrace the importance of the environment and community. Come and feel the energy of the citizens of Osaka and run this very unique eco-friendly race!

This year’s special guest is Naoko Takahashi! Ms. Takahashi is the first woman from Japan to win a gold medal in track and field during the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She was also the first woman to break a then world record to win the 2001 Berlin Marathon.

With a late 12PM start, you'll have plenty of time to navigate yourself to Moriguchi station (closest to the race site) using either the Keihan or Tanimachi line.
