From the coast to the mountains, past rice fields and through the local airport, experience the best of nature in southern Japan! The Masuda Inaka Ride offers a long ride suitable for even the pickiest of cyclists. Located just above Hiroshima and Yamaguchi Prefectures, come on out to the coastal region of Shimane Prefecture and enjoy a day out among cyclists!
Now in its eighth year, the Masuda Inaka Ride is an annual event organized to highlight the beauty of the rural farmlands and the coastal regions of Shimane Prefecture. With no timed component, it’s a casual event catering to cyclists of all levels and a unique opportunity for a refreshing ride along idyllic scenes that are authentically Japan. Best of all, aid stations along the course treat cyclists to an extensive variety of snacks and foods that seamlessly blend local cuisine and fresh ingredients.
Select from 160KM (100 miles), 120KM (75 miles), or 60KM (with lunch and onsen hot spring). For the 160KM and 120KM, participants may choose from the turtle, rabbit, or super rabbit division depending on their estimated average speed.
・Imagine cycling on roads with no traffic lights! At the Masuda Inaka Ride, cyclists can experience 100KM with ZERO traffic lights.
・Ever looked out the window of an airplane while taxiing and thought, “That would be so much fun to ride a bike on…” Don’t miss this opportunity to ride along the flight line at Hagi Iwami Airport!
・Masuda was selected as the site for the Ireland national cycling team training course in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics taking place next summer. Take a look at their 64KM training course (+718m) here (in Japanese, pg. 5).
