What Is…the Ise-Shima Triathlon?
Ise-Shima Satoumi Triathlon
Try a tri in one of Japan's most beautiful coastal regions!
Summer in Japan is best spent outdoors! Racecations are one of the best ways to take advantage of a weekend (or an extended one) and you won't regret a visit to the Ise-Shima region in the south of Japan.
For the past several years, first-timers and seasoned triathletes have gathered from all over the country and abroad to participate in the Ise-Shima Satoumi Triathlon in Mie Prefecture. Starting with a 1,500 meter swim at Oyahama Beach, you'll then ride 40KM and cross the finish line on your own two legs after running 10KM along Bindama Road.
The Ise-Shima region is known among Japanese nationals to represent traditional Japan at its best. Home to the nation's most sacred Shinto shrine, the neighboring cities of Ise and Shima consistently top the lists of the most beautiful cities in the country. Easily accessible from popular tourist destination cities, Ise-Shima is a spectacular, "can't miss" mix of mountains, coast, and crystal clear ocean waters.
