Elma: Going the Distance Around Japan
Samurai Sports would not happen without the men and women who keep fit and challenge themselves! In Snapshots, we ask a few questions to those who excel and explore outside their comfort zones, in Japan and abroad.
How would you introduce yourself?
As independent, adventurous, inspiring, optimistic and spontaneous. Someone who is honest and not afraid to speak their mind. Don’t like a feeling of being trapped or obligated. Someone who encourages people to see the best side of things. Lifelong explorer and in love with freedom and liberation. Someone who will always be up for exciting things.
How do you pursue an active lifestyle?
I have been doing different sports all my life. The only thing was that I never had enough patience to do one sport at a time and stay focused. It took me almost 3 decades to realize that I love running most - and it's what makes me alive and free. I started trail running as well and I have to say I love it!
Now, I lead one of run clubs in Tokyo with a few friends. It’s always nice to inspire people to run and help them reach their goals. Since I have also been participating in obstacle course races, I like to go to the gym and do body combat and body pump. Basically, I exercise 5-6 times a week.
Tell us about a fitness or sports-related item/gear/equipment that you love.
My GARMIN Foreathlete 235J, and every runner probably knows why 🙂 The GPS is accurate, and it has a heart-rate monitor. Moreover, it's water resistant and can track all-day activities like steps and sleep hours. It displays notifications from my phone and the battery life is great!
Whether it’s in the studio, on the road, or at the pool, we know you’re working hard to log those training hours - and we want to learn more about you! Give us a holler at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be featured next - or better yet, email us with how you would answer the questions above.
