About the Race

The Mt. Fuji Long Ride is Japan’s iconic cycling event that takes cyclists of all levels on an unforgettable ride along Mt. Fuji and around the five great lakes. Mt Fuji is long said to have spiritual powers that lift visitors to new heights! The three course options are designed to give any cyclists a chance to ride at his or her own pace and skill level. Along the ride you’ll enjoy stunning views and a stop at a famous local restaurant to refuel with seasonal Japanese delicacies. After the ride, a traditional “Matsuri” festival will welcome all cyclists and complete a truly unique Japanese experience.

Please carefully note the course map of the Mt. Fuji Long Ride. The route takes cyclists around the base of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding five lakes (depending on the ride selected). At no point will riders ascend Mt. Fuji.

Samurai's Recommended Schedule For those who can, driving to the race site on the morning of the ride will be the easiest option.

We recommend all others to take the highway bus straight from Tokyo on Saturday, stay at a hotel overnight, and bike to the event. Not sure where to stay? Scroll down and click on Accommodation Options (in Japanese).

Participants may opt to leave their luggage at the hotel and pick it up after the ride, or take their belongings to the race site where there will be an area designated for bags and gear. Keep in mind that depending on the location of your hotel, you may need to alight at a highway bus stop different from those recommended in the Directions (above) and are closest to the race site.
